What If The Things You LOVE Attract The Bugs??

Valentine's Day is this Monday, and we're sure you have many things you enjoy about the holiday. Chocolates, dinners out, fun gifts, flowers, desserts (and maybe even a few engagement rings 😉) are sure to make the day special. What if, though, some of the things you enjoy most about Valentine's Day could attract the wrong kind of attention from visitors you don't want.

When it comes to bugs and household pests, you'd be surprised at the shared interests you have in common! Like...

A box of chocolates!

Your sweetheart surprised you with your favorite candy? Well, even if you didn't plan to, you'll end up sharing if you don't store it the right way! Even the most secure cardboard hearts can't keep out ants and roaches. Instead of leaving them in the box on the counter, try putting them in a sealed, airtight container. It will keep them fresher AND keep out the bugs. If you do choose to leave them in the heart, put them in the fridge to keep them bug-free.

A day off of chores.

Did your sweetheart give you the day off? Does that mean the garbage won't be taken out? Piled up garbage is a GREAT way to get the attention of insects around your home. They love enjoying all the leftovers found in discarded containers, empty pizza boxes, and spoiled food. Even if you're taking the day off, it's worth the few minutes it takes to put your garbage into your secured, outdoor cans.

Movie night!

When everyone eats in front of the tv, the bugs will too! Crumbs, drips, and spills are more likely in your living room or family room as opposed to the kitchen or dining room, and they are often harder to clean up in these areas. Any residue left behind will attract unwanted pests. They're sure to enjoy movie nights as much as you do!
